About Me

Hi — I’m Cathy, the person behind this site. I’m a lifelong hiker who rediscovered the trail later in life, and I created this space to help others do the same—without the pain, confusion, or complicated gear talk.

Why this site exists

  • Too many hiking resources assume you’re young, uninjured, and ready to tackle technical terrain. I know that’s not everybody’s story. After learning how to protect my joints, manage aches, and choose gear that truly helps, I wanted to share what works in plain language.
  • This site brings together practical tips, honest gear reviews, and simple, evidence-based strategies so walkers and hikers over 50 (or anyone managing arthritis, joint pain, or mobility changes) can keep exploring with confidence.

My story in a few sentences

  • I started hiking decades ago. After a stretch of life changes and a few creaky knees, I thought maybe the trails were behind me. Instead, I learned smarter ways to move, pack, and equip myself so hiking became enjoyable again—often more so than before.
  • Through trial, research, and conversations with physical therapists and fellow outdoor lovers, I built a toolkit of reliable products and techniques that make every outing easier and more rewarding. That’s what I share here.

What I believe

  • Age (or joint pain) shouldn’t be the end of adventure—just a cue to adjust how you go about it.
  • Simple tweaks often beat complicated solutions: better poles, the right socks, a supportive knee brace, and a daypack that actually fits will transform a hike more than the most expensive boots.
  • Clear, honest information matters. I test gear myself, explain trade-offs, and write from the perspective of someone who’s walked the path.

What you’ll find here

  • Gear guides focused on comfort, support, and ease of use (poles, headlamps, gloves, knee braces, daypacks, socks).
  • Practical how-to posts: joint-friendly hiking techniques, pacing and recovery tips, and modifications for common issues like arthritis.
  • Straightforward product comparisons to help you pick what fits your body, budget, and goals.
  • Short walks and route ideas for building confidence and stamina—no mountain required.

My promise to you

  • Honest, useful recommendations based on experience and good sources.
  • No jargon, no hype—just real-world advice that helps you enjoy the trail.
  • Content designed to help you protect your body so you can hike more often and recover faster.

Get involved

  • Have a question about a product or a specific knee/hip/hand issue on the trail? Ask—chances are others have the same question.
  • Want a hands-on review of a piece of gear or tips tailored to a certain condition? Send a note and I’ll prioritize it.

Thanks for stopping by. The trail back starts now—let’s take the first step together.
